Aaraam Velai - 6th Task

How was your performance in the game?
I was very nervous when we started, doubting myself if i would be able to do it... finally i did it very confidently with a big smile.

What were your strengths?
My team, they are my family... i know i can fall back on them at all time. Love you all.
Also have faith in myself.. it was very important to pat my back at all times to keep me going.

What were your weaknesses?

Coordination between me and my brain and my heart.... laziness and in few activities coordinating with team mates.

What would you change in your attitude if you could go back to the beginning of the game?
My friends told me that i did not smile enough while performing...so i would like to carry a genuine big smile on my face all the time.

What would you change in your attitude if you could go back to the beginning of the game?

Learn to plan better , work out with the team as to what will make our act better.Planning could have made this game little more interesting.

Tell us what was effect of the game on you. What positive thought process? What considered negative, difficult or inefficient?

Keep up with the good work... thats what it taught me .

MY INTENTIONS

You have been here before… but after everything you went through in the Way of the Warrior: Why do you want to attend the 2012 GSA?

i look into my niece's eyes and i see so much love ..so trouble free.. free from all unwanted thoughts

They are my inspiration the young and the wise.

Moondram Velai: Third task

Task 3

I presently live most of the time in Talegaon a place 140kms from Mumbai. We have a plot of around 1 acre with 1/3 of it covered with the house 2/3rd left for plantation and a small shack for the caretakers (One of the tasks i want to do is rework the shack meant for the caretakers and make its pucca mud house). Currently we use fertilizers for the plantation but my intention is to convert this place chemical free i.e to follow permaculture, do some nice organic farming and lead an "almost sustainable life."

I have started practicing organic farming on the plot in order to increase its yield and to have a healthy green environment, below given are strategies which i will be using.

1. Basic rule of Permaculture:
" Its not the amount of the resource that determines the health of a system, it is how long the resource stays in the system that determines its health"

2. This is how the system works…exactly how my grand mom said ..there is nothing called waste, everything goes back to the earth…at least all the organic stuff.

3.1 Planing the landscape based on the usage.
3.2 Using human waste pee and other grey water waste for plants.

4.1 Banana circles and wetlands one of the best ways of using up grey water. The 1st one dissipates the water into the ground under the mulch and the other filters the water using different root filters, this water can be later used for domestic purpose.
4.2 Guilds are very efficient planting system, one can do companion planting ( plants which don't require the same two nutrients and are independent of each others growth).Guilds are combination of ground covers, herbs, shrubs, creepers and trees.

5. Sheet mulching is a process of renewing the fertility of the soil.

6. Vermicompost is a good way of treating kitchen waste.

7.Spiral herb is a system of planting herbs in a gradually sloping spiral format in order to make best use of the resources. In this case a combination of sheet mulching and companion plantation is a good option.

8. One of the experiments i have started doing in my compound.

Erundaam Velai: 2nd Task

Task 2

For some reason i have been doing the 3"Rs" for quite sometime now …thanks to all my friends and few fellow playmates.
One more thing before i continue  interesting fact my grand mom told me recently that there was nothing called as waste earlier..nothing..everything produced goes back to earth.
Today the picture is diffrent.

so few things which i tried to do and continued doing

1. Using a cloth bag to buy things instead of taking poly bags from shopkeepers and explaining them the harmful nature of plastic.

2. I carry water  from home where ever i travel…so no question of buying mineral water from outside.

3. This is a special one i started peeing on the trees and the lil saplings insted of using the loo… yes the sapling has grown taller than me in a week hahahahah

4. Gave away old newspaper to the paper recycler, felt blessed cause i made lot of room in the house..

5. My carbon footprint is high cause of the vehicle usage, so i decided i will cut that completely, i did not go to work for a week..ehahaha…ya it felt good, I'm loving this task..and plus i stopped using artificial ventilation inside the house for a week.
    Note: Its winter here.

6. Made a small table to place my music system out of old unused books.

7. Gave away few old unused clothes to needy people.

8. I love making scraptures and lanterns out of waste. So these are some of my earlier experiments along with fellow playmate.

- My architecture thesis model completely made out of waste cartons, boxes and cloth.

- Center piece for a function made of newspaper

- Human torch: a table lamp made of  e waste

Mudal velai: 1st task

Who am i?

I am an unsatisfied confused man. Searching inside myself what i really want to do and who i want to be…..But some where really really deeeeep deeeep inside me I'm hoping I'm god….stop smiling.

How do i feel?

When i was in college studying for my degree i felt i was stuck to the course, but once it got over i felt like i got wings…yeah wings…no no no wait then i realized i got wings, but I'm tied down, I'm tied down by responsibilities.
getting out of college and supporting myself is one of the most difficult things I'm trying to handle. So this is  how i feel " almost free "

Do you have professional questions? What are they?

Who created money, really the most useless invention of all time.

What are your wildest dreams?

My wildest dream is to live life as a naked being with nature, with people who believe the same.  Nothing on me nothing on you, wow what a world that would be.

What are your biggest challenges?

Understanding myself is the biggest hurdle of my life cause at every stage of life i keep evolving as a person and i need to catchup with myself, my likes and dislikes, my fears, my emotions, my wants and most importantly my dreams.

My actions

KHEL is a small community oriented program which me and my friends started where we used to interact with street children. We used to educate them through games and they would do the same for us in return.
what we believed was " if children can't go to school then lets take the school to them." We designed a cycle cart and used to take it to the kids. The cart was filled with many self designed interactive games for everyone.

Please read the directions written below and act  along.

" Put your hands together,
move them away from eachother,
call them close to your shoulders,
open your fingers,
let them wiggle and jiggle,
as they reach for the sky,
i'm high, your high,
kasa kai bara hai!! "

Thank you

The entire action that you just did is the name of our little community, its an interactive name. We practice architecture using naturally available local materials. Other than architecture we indulge into many community oriented co operative games. Also we are looking forward to do lots of community oriented architectural work.
